PAYROLL SPECIALIST

 Job Description        

Duties and Responsibilities include: •Process bi-weekly payroll for an average of 1,000 employees •Maintain and analyze earned time off, Workers Comp and 403B spreadsheets •Maintain employee benefits and garnishments •Preparation and distribution of W-2 forms •Maintain and update employee master files •Compute and reconcile payroll tax deposits •Prepare disbursement checks for payroll liabilities •Serve as a liaison for payroll issues with external parties as required •Ensure that payroll related transactions are in compliance with policies •Other duties as assigned including employee benefit tasks and responsibilities

 

 Qualifications        

Qualification Requirements: •Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects at once •Must have a positive attitude, self-motivation and flexibility •Ability to work independently or as a team member •Must demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail and high productivity •Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential •Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word •Ability to problem solve, anticipate and avoid issues Education and Experience: •Minimum two years payroll experience processing volume for a midsize company •General accounting experience a plus •Solid customer service skills •Must pass background check

 

 Additional Information        

San Diego Company is seeking a well organized individual with excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills to join the Finance Department as a Payroll Specialist. Reporting to the Chief Accountant and working directly with the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation of the bi-weekly payroll and reporting functions. The payroll Specialist will also assist in the preparation of reports for employee benefits such as workers compensation, health, dental, and other state mandated employee benefits.
