Manager, OTD Business Operations

 Job Description        

Directs all business operations within the Office of Technology Development. Oversees operational, financial and administrative functions to ensure efficient, effective and consistent operations. Develops and implements processes, procedures, programs and policies that support and enhance the department’s mission, ensures compliance, and facilitates accomplishment of goals. Handles financial transactions and tracks, monitors and reports on all financial activity of the department. Analyzes financial data and prepares financial models and plans, operating forecasts and department budget. Manages staff responsible for business/accounting functions. Management of department’s existing accounting/financial/contract management enterprise software systems. Coordinates the development of and/or improvements to systems that are required to meet internal business and management needs and to comply with contractual arrangements.



Education: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting or related field is required. Experience: Required: •10 years of professional experience in in financial management and/or business administration •8 years of experience in relevant business operations, process improvement, management and/or accounting/finance (employment and/or consulting) •Advanced knowledge of accounting-related enterprise software and Excel •Experience working effectively in or with higher education/academic institutions •Experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management, implementing best practices •Knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.


 Additional Information        

Special Requirements: •Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment. •Must be willing to work at a location away from the main campus (but within walking distance) and travel to and from campus as needed (parking is available at both locations). •Successful completion of the Institute’s background investigation. •Must sign a confidentiality agreement. Regularly handles confidential information including proprietary technical and commercial information that has commercial value and conflict of interest potential. Physical Requirements: This position required constant hearing, reading, reasoning, analyzing, communicating and working inside.
