Facilities Technician

 Job Description        

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Facilities and Project Management, the Facilities Technician is responsible to assist in the maintenance of all properties owned and operated by The San Diego LGBT Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that The Center's facilities are maintained in accordance with all policies of the agency and professional standards of excellence. Specific responsibilities include: General maintenance and repairs Landscape and appearance of grounds Assist with general daily housekeeping Maintain contacts for needed trade professionals which will include, but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, appliances, elevator service/inspections, HVAC systems service/inspections, SDHC unit and building inspections, fire suppression and alarm systems, and other general services Daily security of the buildings Organize and Implement unit turn-over at Sunburst Youth Housing Project (flips)

 

 Qualifications        

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Three years of demonstrated experience in facilities management Language Skills: Fluency in English required. Fluency in Spanish preferred. Other Skills: Must demonstrate competency in working with a variety of diverse populations. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities. Those with lived experience as a member of a historically under-served community (i.e., low income, communities of color, LGBT communities, immigrant communities, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply. Computer Skills: Must be comfortable working in PC/Windows-based environments. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
