|
The Computer Literacy Class Instructor will teach a course on computer literacy to newly arrived refugees. The course topics will include basic knowledge of email usage and set-up, Microsoft Word, internet navigation, and other sites such as banking and bill-payment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with Volunteer and Resettlement Department to craft appropriate curriculum
•Set up and clean up before and after course
•Run class on a weekly basis for a group or meet with individuals
•Focus on employment acquisition throughout class instruction
Impact: The Computer Literacy Instructor will provide valuable support in enabling the program to provide recently resettled refugees with the tools necessary to obtain employment, pay bills, and be self-sufficient in San Diego. This will have a lasting impact on the students individually as well as the refugee community as a whole.

| Qualifications |

Qualifications and skills:
•Knowledge of Computer Basics
•Friendly demeanor and cultural sensitivity
•Teaching and/or tutoring experience a plus
•Knowledge of other languages a plus
Training and support: The volunteer will meet with the Volunteer Department and IT specialist to craft curriculum. Monthly check-ins will be completed to assure all support needs are met. The Resettlement Department will assist in referring clients to courses as needed. A volunteer orientation will be attended to familiarize instructor with organization mission and work.
Minimum Time Commitment Needed: 10-12 weeks (dependent upon the pace of the class)

Availability: Classes will be held according to volunteer’s availability on a weekly basis.
